notify-u collects only what's needed to deliver pickup notifications. We do not sell personal data, and we do not send marketing messages.
Who This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy describes how notify-u ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with the notify-u platform. It applies to:
- Organization Admins and Staff — businesses and employees that use notify-u to manage tickets and send notifications.
- End Users — customers who opt in to receive a text message pickup notification for a specific ticket.
Information We Collect
From Organization Admins and Staff
From End Users
We do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personal information from End Users beyond a phone number and the ticket context needed to send one notification.
Automatically Collected Information
When you use the Service we may automatically collect standard server log data such as IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. This information is used only for security monitoring and service reliability. It is not linked to End User phone numbers.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Deliver the one transactional pickup notification the End User opted in to receive.
- Authenticate Organization Admins and manage their accounts.
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations, including TCPA record-keeping requirements.
We do not use End User phone numbers for any purpose other than sending the notification the End User explicitly requested.
Text Message Notifications
notify-u sends only transactional messages. End Users receive at most one SMS per ticket. We do not send promotional or marketing texts.
SMS messages are delivered through Twilio, Inc. ("Twilio"). By opting in, End Users acknowledge that their phone number will be transmitted to Twilio solely for delivery of their requested notification. Twilio's privacy policy is available at twilio.com/legal/privacy.
End Users may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Opt-out requests are processed immediately. For help, reply HELP or contact [email protected].
Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers
- Twilio, Inc. — SMS delivery. End User phone numbers are transmitted to Twilio only for sending the requested notification.
- Google Cloud Platform — cloud infrastructure, database, and storage. All data is stored and processed within Google Cloud.
- Google Sign-In — authentication for Organization Admins.
All service providers are contractually required to process personal information only as directed by us and in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of notify-u, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers
If notify-u is acquired or merges with another company, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users before any such transfer and before information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy:
- End User phone numbers and ticket associations — retained for 90 days after the ticket is marked complete, then deleted. This window supports opt-out confirmation and any required compliance review.
- Consent records (opt-in timestamp and method) — retained for 4 years to support TCPA compliance obligations.
- Organization account data — retained while the account is active and for up to 1 year after account closure.
- Server logs — retained for 90 days for security and reliability purposes.
When data reaches the end of its retention period it is permanently deleted from our systems.
Your Rights and Choices
End Users
- Opt out of messages: Reply STOP to any message from notify-u to stop all future messages for that ticket.
- Request deletion: Email [email protected] to request deletion of your phone number from our systems. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
Organization Admins
- Access and correction: You can review and update your account information at any time within the platform.
- Account deletion: Contact [email protected] to close your account and request deletion of your data.
California Residents
California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include:
- Encryption in transit (TLS) for all data exchanged with the Service.
- Encryption at rest for all stored data via Google Cloud's built-in encryption.
- Role-based access controls limiting who can access personal data internally.
- Regular security reviews and monitoring.
No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We will notify users promptly in the event of a data breach as required by applicable law.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date. For material changes, we will notify Organization Admins by email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
